We are delighted to announce that a new website celebrating our local history; full of local images, events and news will be launched in the coming months. For now, please bear with us and keep up to date with Soham Museum via our facebook page. 

Soham Museum is a virtual living history museum, currently working towards premises in the town.  We do not have a permanent exhibition in Soham, but if you are planning a visit and would like to arrange a tour of the town that your ancestors lived in please do get in touch with us.  We are also happy to share items in our collection by prior arrangement.

We currently offer a family and local history research service, are specialists in the history of The Soham Rail Disaster and the story of the abolitionist Olaudah Equiano.

Soham Museum have an extensive outreach programme:

Soham History Group - Bi-monthly history talks of local and social interest held at Berrycroft Methodist Church Hall, off Pratt Street, first Thursday every other month at 7.30pm, starting in January.  Price £2.50 per person or FREE to members. All welcome.

Friends of Soham Museum is our annual membership scheme. Members enjoy FREE admission to all our History Group talks, regular newsletters, news updates, advance notification of local history events across Cambridgeshire and special members events and outings. Annual membership £10 per person OR £15 per family living at the same address. E-mail us for further details.

Soham Museum Coffee Mornings - Popular and lively drop in where you can meet our team and share your love of history. Held at Soham Library, off Clay Street, every first Saturday of the month 10-12.  All welcome. FREE but donations appreciated.

Soham Local and Family History Group - Our dedicated local and family history research group meet for 6 weeks each term on a Monday evening from 7pm at Soham Library, off Clay Street. This is an educational and working group.  If you are interested in getting involved in researching our history, please contact us for a list of dates.  We also accept submissions of articles of local historic interest, family trees, local paintings, photographs and poetry (new or old).  Membership is FREE - All welcome.

Archaeology Cambridgeshire East (ACE) - If you love archaeology you will love our lively and friendly archaeology group 'ACE'.  We meet every last Wednesday of the month at Soham Library, off Clay Street, 7-9pm (Jan-Nov inc.).  ACE is part of the HLF Jigsaw funded project now overseen by Oxford Archaeology East.  We have professional training and carry out archaeological surveys within a remit of the East Fen Edge.  Membership is FREE and all are welcome, including beginners (children must be accompanied by an adult - not suitable for very young children). ACE offers an outreach service to local schools so please contact us if you would like to arrange a visit or for us to take part in your school archaeology project.  For more information please visit the ACE website at www.archaeologycambseast.weebly.com
